The reason I read is to explore in depth the psychological standpoint of the author and the point they're trying to get across. It's easy to look at a book, read it, and put it down. It's another thing entirely to read a book and completely understand what it means, what the book stands for, and what the book is trying to convey to you. The idea portrayed by the book is different in everyone's eyes, so it's necessary to read the book without bias and attempt to decode it to the best of your ability. One of the main reasons you should read books is to take away whatever moral the book is supplying, and use it to judge your own personal views. It's very easy to read the first few pages of a book and understand what's going on and what's going to happen later, but that's not why you read. You read to delve into the world of whatever genre the book is. You read to mentally displace yourself. You read to go outside of what you know, and into what you eventually learn.
